Mail to cs.rutgers.edu
I've been asked to clarify how you can determine whether mail you
receive was addressed to you as
username@cs.rutgers.edu.
Mail to anyone at
cs.rutgers.edu
is delivered to
dragon.rutgers.edu.
dragon
(as all mail servers)
adds a
"Received:"
line to the headers of the message.
By these headers, you can determine the route the message took from
the sender to you.
Mail received by
dragon
will have a
Received:
line like
Received: from lakemtao01.cox.net ([68.1.17.244] verified)
by dragon.rutgers.edu (CommuniGate Pro SMTP 3.5.9)
with ESMTP id 4365153 for watrous@cs.rutgers.edu; Thu, 31 Oct 2002 06:21:50 -0500
Note it says it was received
by dragon.rutgers.edu.
(For privacy reasons, the recipients will not be listed if there are
more than one.)
Most mail readers will not show you the full headers in their normal
configuration.
-
In
emacs rmail
you type
"t"
to display all headers.
(It's a toggle.
Another
"t"
will return to your normal display.)
-
In
dragon's
webmail interface,
click on the upper icon in the right of the box with the
From:,
Subject:,
Date:,
and
To:
headers.
-
In
Netscape,
use the menu sequence
"View => Headers => All".
