Douglas Motto

To all those that are lost looking for another "Douglas LastName" or "FirstName Motto" and thought to stop and read this anyway, the following is for them...

As the title says, my name is Douglas Motto. I grew up in Weehawken, New Jersey (and that's without the funny accent that every who does NOT live in "New Jersey" uses). If you live in the NY Tri-State area, you may not have heard of Weehawken, but I'm sure you've driven through it. It is the home of the Lincoln Tunnel and all the smog that passes through it. Well, if you can see pass the smog and hear through the noise, it's not all that bad of a town. There I lived for the first 18 or so years of my life, going through the same stuff I'm sure everyone else goes through (but of course at the time you think you're the only one going through it). Then, because I had nothing better to do with my life, I went here to Rutgers after high school. At the time, it was known for being a party school and being cheap (now it's only known as being cheap). So, just after taking the shackles of my parents off, I made one of the worst decisions of my life. I decided to become an Engineer. After trying out a few, I landed on Electrical Engineering and spent five years of hell all to find out that I'd learn about 95% of useless knowledge. Just like the first 18 years of my life, it didn't really matter where you ended up in the end, but more or less how you got there. What I did get out of it was that I LEARN'ED how to LEARN and also a sense that I could accomplish anything I wanted as long as I was willing to put the effort and sacrifice into it. And boy did I sacrifice (like, sleep, exercise, nutrition, friends, fun, living, etc...). So I graduated and now I work for Rutgers as a Systems Programmer/Administrator for the Laboratory for Computer Research (abbreviated LCSR, which by the way has nothing to do with Research). I also moonlight on the side as an Instructor for a Cisco Certification course, also part of Rutgers. Not much else to say and if you've gotten this far, I'm impressed!

(Dec 2003) It's been awhile since I wrote here and I thought I'd mention some more things about myself. I no longer work as an instructor and I'm now CCNP Certified. Not like anyone would care, but I figured I should write something here. You can read all about this in my application statement for another undergraduate degree here at Rutgers. I'm going back to pursue an undergraduate degree in physics and then hopefully continue on with a Masters.

(May 2009) Updated again. I finished my second B.S. degree in Physics with the Professional Option. It was kind of a hobby, I guess. I now have completed 212 degree credits here at Rutgers. Figure I should get a free hat or something for obtaining this many credits. Still here at Rutgers working for LCSR. Not much beyond this except that I purchased a home in 2004. Working on house repairs and upgrades has taken up most of my free time. See your around.

Eventually I think I'll put some links in Here!
