NSF highlights work of Rutgers CS robotics groups on packing

The National Science Foundation recently highlighted the work of the Computer Science robotics groups on robot packing through its Discoveries newsletter:

This effort corresponds to a peer-reviewed study, which was published at the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation. It was a finalist for the Best Paper Award in Automation. The study coincides with the growing trend of deploying robots to perform logistics, retail and warehouse tasks. Multimedia and information regarding this work can be found here:

The lead authors are Rahul Shome and Wei N. Tang, PhD students in the Department of Computer Science. Co-authors included doctoral students Changkyu Song and Chaitanya Mitash, as well as Hristiyan Kourtev, a former scientific programmer of the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS). The involved faculty members are Prof. Kostas Bekris, Prof. Abdeslam Boularias and Prof. Jingjin Yu.

The work was supported by research contracts and grants from JD.com's Silicon Valley research center and the National Science Foundation.
