Mike Saks and Rutgers CS alumnus Michal Koucký receive Best Paper Award at FOCS

Congratulations to Mike Saks and Michal Koucký for receiving the Best Paper Award during the 2018 edition of the IEEE Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS), one of the most prominent theoretical CS conferences, for the paper "Approximating Edit Distance Within Constant Factor in Truly Sub-Quadratic Time" by Diptarka Chakraborty, Debarati Das, Elazar Goldenberg, Michal Koucký and Mike Saks.

Mike Saks is the chair of the Mathematics department at Rutgers University as well as a member of the Computer Science department's graduate faculty. Michal Koucký is an alumnus of the Computer Science department at Rutgers and is now heading the Computer Science Institute at Charles University in Prague.
