The Rutgers Computer Science Department is pleased to announce Professor Hao Wang is the recipient of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Career Award for his proposal “Robustify AI with Bayesian Deep Learning.”
Over the past decade, deep learning (DL) has advanced significantly but remains vulnerable to misleading features and adversarial attacks due to its reliance on observational data. These vulnerabilities stem from DL models learning false input-output relationships and being susceptible to manipulated input data. This project aims to develop a robustifier framework to improve robustness in a principled way for any DL model, against natural and adversarial factors, while also handling uncertainty in the data.
The award grant totals $516,787.00 and is estimated to be completed by June 30, 2029.
