It is with great pride that we share, CS Distinguished Professor, Dimitris Metaxas, an internationally acclaimed expert in computer vision, medical image analysis, and graphics, has been appointed as a Board of Governors Professor of Computer Science at Rutgers.

With over 700 publications and numerous awards, Metaxas leads the Center for Accelerated Real Time Analytics and founded the Center for Computational Biomedicine, Imaging, and Modeling. His remarkable career includes mentoring over 67 Ph.D. students and contributing significantly to deep machine learning.

Board of Governors Professorships are awarded to individuals whose aggregate academic accomplishments are recognized nationally and globally as being exceptionally outstanding and at a level surpassing the extremely high standards of distinction expected of faculty members who have earned Distinguished Professor (Professor II) designations at the university.
