CS Professor Sudarsan Kannan has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Research Fellowship for Scholarly Excellence Award, one of the university’s most distinguished young faculty members.
This honor recognizes Professor Kannan’s outstanding research contributions and scholarly achievements during his tenure at Rutgers. The award highlights Kannan's outstanding research, which makes effective use of advances in computer architecture, memory, and storage devices, including his set of transformative solutions based on his cross-layered design approach to address the heterogeneous system challenges for improving the performance of large-scale applications. Professor Kannan’s leadership within his field has significantly impacted the larger research community and industry. The fellowship includes a $1,000 grant from the Board of Trustees to support his academic endeavors in the coming year.
As a member of the CS faculty, Professor Kannan’s research spans operating systems, computer architecture, distributed systems, and high-performance computing, with a particular emphasis on memory and storage heterogeneity. His work has earned him a prestigious NSF CAREER Award, multiple Samsung Research Awards, and the Google Research Scholar Award.
