Casimir Kulikowski received BE and MS degrees from Yale University and his PhD from the University of Hawaii in 1970 for work on Pattern Recognition (Subspace) Methods for Medical Diagnosis. He has carried out research in artificial intelligence, medical informatics, computer imaging and vision, bioinformatics and the history of biomedical and health informatics. Kulikowski has authored more than 300 papers in these and related fields and has edited, and writen several books.  His professional activities over the past decade include: Vice-President, International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) from 2007 to 2012,  Co-Editor of the IMIA Yearbook of Medical Informatics (2001-2012), on the Editorial Board, of the International Journal of Software and Informatics, American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Academic Forum Biomedical Informatics Core Competencies Committee (2009-2011), and is at present Chair of the Committee of Historians, American College of Medical Informatics, and Chair, History Working Group, International Medical Informatics Association, as well as  Associate Editor of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Journal, and on the Editorial Board of Methods of Information in Medicine.

Personal News: 

Kulikowski was elected a Founding Member of the newly-established International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics in May 2017.

Kulikowski received the Best Working Group of the Year Award from the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) in Hangzhou, on August 22, 2017 during the General Assembly of IMIA.
