Mail aliases @rutgers.edu
Mail aliases @rutgers.edu
Interested in an email address like
userid@rutgers.edu
or
Your.Name@rutgers.edu?
johndoe@rutgers.edu
There is a system now in place where mail for any userid sent to
rutgers.edu will be forwarded to the email address
registered for that user in the
Rutgers Online Directory.
So if your current email address is
johndoe@cs.rutgers.edu,
mail to
johndoe@rutgers.edu
will be automatically forwarded to you.
(Faculty/staff can change the email address registered for you by
going to the
Address Update form.)
John.Doe@rutgers.edu
It is also possible to set up another alias, say
John.Doe@rutgers.edu
to be forwarded to you.
(Note: this alias must have a special character, one of "-_.#'", in
the alias so it won't conflict with a possible userid.)
To do this, you must set up the alias through the
RULink
web site.
The link you need to follow to set up the actual alias is labelled the
"Admin interface" towards the bottom of the page.
It will take you to the
Rutgers Internet Services
login page.
(For your convenience, the above links should work too, but may be out
of date should that site be reorganized.)
From there, follow the link labelled "Manage mail delivery/vacation
messages."
You manage your custom alias in the boxes below the heading "Change
email address."
(Leave your default address specified as the primary.)
Faculty and research users can obtain help in setting up aliases by
emailing
help@cs.
