email contacts

When you have a problem on one of the DCS faculty machines, you would like to know who to contact. If the problem is small or urgent and could/should be taken care of immediately, you can call the LCSR operator at 908/445-2443. If the problem does not have to be solved immediately, the best single point of contact on the DCS faculty machines is help@cs.rutgers.edu. This reaches the operator on duty, and more than one sysadmin responsible for those machines. (Analagous addresses on the grad and undergrad machines are help@paul.rutgers.edu and help@remus.rutgers.edu, respectively. The operator number is the same.)

If the problem has to do with a Macintosh, the best address to report the problem is dcs-mac-support@cs.rutgers.edu. If it's a hardware problem, the best address to report the problem is terminals@cs.rutgers.edu. Neither of the above addresses overlaps with the "help" address, but if you guess wrong about which address is best to send it to, we will forward it to the appropriate place.

It would be courteous if you separately report the problem to more than one of the above addresses that you mention this, so we can coordinate attempts at a solution and reduce duplication of effort.
