Notes

Debian on Cheesegraters

In case you're ever trying to install Debian on a newer PowerMac G5 and have problems with the bootloader where you get a "?" folder when trying to boot, I may have a solution for you. Look in your /etc/yaboot.conf (you'll probably be booted into rescue mode from the CD at this point): boot=/dev/sda2 device=/disk@0: Does it look like that? Try changing your "device" line to: device=hd: See if that works. For more, look a this thread in the Ubuntu forums -- helpful stuff, hard to find with a bit of googling.

Reordering Accounts in Thunderbird

Thunderbird doesn't have a fun gooey GUI account-rearranger-thingy, so if you ever have a hankering to, say, add an email account after you've already got 5 RSS feeds going, you may be disappointed to see that they're all sloppy looking. Well, it turns out that all you have to do is open up your prefs.js file in your T-bird profile directory and change the order of the accounts in the 'mail.accountmanager.accounts' setting. Unfortunately, they're not named pleasantly.
