RIDSense  (RFID + Sensors)

We are building a sensor network in conjunction with RFIDs to gather information about the state of the inventory.  The main purpose is to build a database that can support forensic applications. The data used in these applications require continuous tracking/monitoring of measured values. A synopsis of  these values will then be used to answer forensic queries. Forensic queries are a particular class of queries defined on exceptions or abnormal values of the tracked/monitored attributes

Research Issues

  1. Information update architecture for tracking/monitoring
    1. Forensic queries: structure and evaluation
    2. Sampling frequency of tracking vs query accuracy
    3. High-level forensic queries
  2. RFID networking, integration, and management
  3. Data routing
    1. Data preparation, feeding to application processes
  4. Data calibration/error detection
    1. Confidence levels
    2. Actionable data
  5. Storing monitored values
