Supported Software

Supported software will be uniformly available on all machines running linux. New versions of the software will be installed annually, usually in the summer, and the staff will see that it is operating correctly. The staff are knowledgeable about many, but not most, of these packages. If you need help with any package please send mail to help@cs.rutgers.edu. Help will be provided as possible but in most cases users will be referred to online documentation such as users manuals.

If you are interested in an environment not listed as supported software you may install and maintain it as "unsupported". http://www.cs.rutgers.edu/resources/software/unsupported/ describes how this can be done.

Solaris systems are being phased out and software packages on Solaris systems are no longer upgraded annually. If you need a software package that can only operate under Solaris and it is not on one of CS's Solaris servers please send mail to help@cs.rutgers.edu.
