This document shows you how to enable your Windows 2000/XP computer to print to a Unix LPR print queue. This is a required step before you can a set up your local printer queue to print to the DCIS Unix printer queues. For more details see: Settting to a Postscript Printer Queue to Print to DCIS Printers on MS Windows 2000/XP.

These instructions are necessary because the ability to print to Unix printer queues is not part of the default installation of Windows 2000/XP. However, adding the feature is supported.

To enable LPR printing port for Windows2000/XP, you need to install Print services for Unix on your Windows2000/XP machine. Follow the following steps to do so.

Figure.1

1. Go to the Start menu, select Settings and click on Control Panel. A control panel window like figure 1 will open.
