Get an HP Universal Printer Postscript Driver for your System
- download
HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows - Postscript.
We don't support non postscript drivers. Make sure you choose a Postscript driver.
Example: HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript if you have a MS Windows operating system. You just need the driver and nothing else.
- Follow the instruction that accompanies this driver to install it.
If you are using :
- Windows2000/XP, follow How to Add Print Services for Unix on your Windows
- Windows Vista and Windows 7,
Enable LPR support for WindowsVista and Windows 7 as follow:
- Go to the Control Panel
- Choose Programs
- Under Program Features choose 'Turn Windows features on or off'
- Click Continue when prompted
- Click the drop-down box next to Print Services
- Select LPR PortMonitor
- Click OK and "wait while the features are configured"
Your workstation now has the ability to print to an LPR print server.
Now, add the printer.
- Click on Start
- In WindowsVista, Select Control Panel and then select Printers
- In Windows7, Go to Devices and Printers
- Right click in the window that opens and chooseAdd Printer
- Choose Add a local printer
- Choose Create a new port:
- Select port type LPR port
- Click Next
- For c

Inkjet & poster printer, Type: printserverh.cs.rutgers.edu for server providing lpd
Note: the extra 'h' means no banner page will print on each job.
- For b/w printer, Type: printserver.cs.rutgers.edu for server providing lpd
- Type: the exact queue name you wish to print to. Example: core3, core3c, hill3, lp4
- Click Next
- Browse Manufacturer list and choose HP
- Choose the driver under Printer column, look for Universal HP Driver PS driver you just installed. Make sure you choose PS version for Postscript driver and click Ok
- Name the printer something meaningful, like after the queue name. Example: core3, lp4 etc.
