WARNING If you need to print poster, please read instruction on How to Print Posters to Artisan. This method does not work with artisan.

- If you encounter problem setting up printers using point and click method describe in this page, please use the LPR method: LPR to print from your Windows XP/Vista/7.

- This page is adaptive. Depending on Operating system you use, different instruction will show.

Due to printing abused, this method will NOT work for many printers. Please use the LPR Method to print from your Windows XP/Vista/7.

Setting Up Printer Queue on OS (point and click method)

To setup your printer with the appropriate settings, follow the steps below:

1. Click the menu and select
In the Address enter: \\printserver.cs.rutgers.edu and press enter.
This will get you a list of available printers as seen in Figure 1 below.

*Note:

- This method will print with a header/banner page with username nobody . If you want to have your username printed in the banner page, you need to use the LPR method.

- Some printers will NOT work using this method and will only work with LPR method.

-If you have private printer, you may NOT want to have header page printed before each job. To turn off header page, enter: printserverh.cs.rutgers.edu in the Address: field instead.

This process is slow and could take 15-30 seconds to get a list. Fortunately it needs to be done once per printer. Please be patient!

Depending on your system, if you are asked for username and password, enter: guest as username and leave the password field blank.

2. RIGHT click on the printer icon you want to use and select Connect from the context menu.
A dialog box as seen in Figure 2. will open describing what you are about to do.

Depending on the complexity of the driver, it may take a while to install the driver.
When the driver is installed, you will see a Window similar to Figure 3.

This completes your driver installation and you can now print to the new printer you just setup.
