CS Email Transition

Computer Science is transitioning its multiple email services into a single integrated service. We expect
the transition to be completed by August 1, 2006.
Users who use dragon.rutgers.edu as their email server need do nothing. Others must create a new email account before August 1, 2006.
During the transition period email services will continue to be available on mail servers being
retired (e.g., research, aramis, paul, remus, cereal) but changes will
be made to make sure we have a smooth transition.
Who is eligible for an integrated CS email account
- CS faculty, CS staff, and CS graduate student
- CS researchers and collaborators sponsored by a faculty or
staff member
- Declared undergraduate CS majors who request the service be

What email services are being decommissioned
- Email will not
be received on research, aramis, paul, remus, cereal etc.

Email using Legacy Mail Client
- Email to addresses such as
user@research.rutgers.edu, user@aramis.rutgers.edu, user@paul.rutgers.edu,
user@remus.rutgers.edu, user@cereal.rutgers.edu etc. will not be
delivered by August 1, 2006. (See FAQ for more details)
What you should do
- If you
don't have an email account on dragon.rutgers.edu, you must create
one.
Email delivery to research, aramis, paul, remus, cereal etc. will not
be delivered by August 1, 2006.
- Users are urged to
use an IMAP or POP3 capable email client.
We recommend Mozilla
Thunderbird, Outlook Express, or Apple Mail.
- If you MUST use rmail, mail or mm see Reading CS
Email using Legacy Mail Client.
These legacy email clients will be
treated as unsupported software. We will provide a Linux OS system from
which mail for these email clients can be fetched.
Description of CS's integrated Email Service

Available immediately.
- As of August 1, 2006 no other services will be supported.
- POP3, IMAP, and Webmail interface are supported.
- Mail to addresses other than
user@cs.rutgers.edu will receive an automated failure reply instructing the sender how to reach the intended recipient.
