Subject: Image Manipulation Programs To: Tim Cooley Message-Id: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII 11/12/94 Tim, I'm sending you some of the files I mentioned in the quote I sent to you and Litsa the other day. Of these files, Paint Shop Pro 2.0 is my favorite. I found it very easy to use. I was able to re-align the retina image (which I'm also sending) in a matter of seconds. I also used it to horizontally squeeze the left and right images by 50%, and saved each squeezed image in a separate file. I then used the PICMAN program to stitch the images together into one image. I also used PICMAN to blacken those portions of the new image that appeared white. (When I stitched them together, I first had to define a new image with a size of 640x480. I then pasted the left image into the column 81 position, and the right image into the column 401 position. This left large white areas in columns 1-80, 241-400, and 561-640.) Since I had never used PICMAN before, all this took some time to accomplish. With a little experience, I believe it would take only a few minutes to perform in the future. I also believe that using PaintShop Pro was unnecessary - I could have probably performed all the activities within PICMAN. I'm sending you the following files, zipped and uuencoded, each in separate email. In general, the programs I'm sending you are the top image manipulation programs available on shareware. They are also the latest versions of those programs. Only PICMAN was able to stitch together multiple images into a single image. Once you get all the email, uudecode, move/download onto your PC, and PKUNZIP each file in its own directory. 1. pspro20.zip.uu - Paint Shop Pro 2.0 Image Manipulator/File Converter. 2. pman151.zip.uu - PICMAN V1.51 Image Manipulator/File Converter. The Russians are Coming! 3. retina.zip.uu Image #1: Vertically aligned version of the image shown at the demo Image #2: Compressed version, suitable for display on the DTI 1100C 4. ic.zip.uu - Image cataloger/organizer 5. gwswin1m.zip.uu - Graphics Work Shop for Windows version 1M: Another image manipulator Good Luck, Joe P.S. All these programs provide excellent image file viewers. ________________________________________________________________ Joseph R.
