Partially and Fully Symmetric Tensor Decomposition

Carmeliza Navasca, University of Alabama, Birmingham

Faculty Host: Ahmed Elgammal

Abstract

We find decomposition of symmetric tensors into a sum of rank-one symmetric tensors. State-of-the-art techniques often fail to give good approximations and to satisfy the symmetry constraints. We will review some current methods as well as present an iterative technique for odd and even order fully and partially symmetric tensor decompositions. Numerical examples will be given the application area of independent component analysis.
