Title:
Experienced Student Web Programmer
Objective:
Seeking motivated individual wishing to enter the field of web and application development. If you want to gain work expereience in this programming field, then this job is for you.
Starting:
As Soon As Possible.
Hours:
Available hours of work are 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday. 10-15 hours of work per week is required during the school semester. 15-30 hours of work per week is available during the holidays and summer.
Wage:
Between $9-14/hr depending on skill set.
Experience and Skills:
Candidates must understand the fundamentals of the web developing, publishing and programming. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, DOM and Javascript required. PHP, jQuery and AJAX prefered. Must understand the problems of cross browser and cross platform development. CGI experience in any language similarly wanted. Grasp of OO programming a must. Individuals with web developement in a LINIX enviorment will be preferred. Raw editing required. Additional skills will be learned on the job. Guided instruction will be given, but the new hire must be able to learn on their own through sources provided.

College Enrollment:
Applicants must be enrolled at Rutgers University. Preferential treament will be giving to individuals with one or more years left of education, but all grade levels are welcome to apply.
Overview:

The Laboratory for Computer Science Research is currently looking for a Student Web Programmer. This position will be directed in the cleanup, maintenance and development of current and new web pages and web applications including their implementation, structure and framework. This is a programmer position intended to develop web applications as well as some simpler web pages. This work is for the benefit of the Department of Computer Science (DCS).

Responsibilities may include...

  • PHP, Javascript, and Java development
  • Writing static and dynamic web pages
  • Debugging, enhancing, optimizing and rewriting pre-existing code
  • Oracle Database interactions including writing SQL queries
  • User Interface Development
  • Content updates, upgrades and additions
  • Review of current web material including the structuring of information
  • Graphics work including layout design and image editing
  • Development of content management facilities
  • Framework or template development
