Rutgers University DCIS Colloquium Date: Friday, September 12, 2003 Time: 11:00 AM Location: CoRE Building room 301, Busch Campus, Rutgers University
Abstract: Software Defined Radio is an old but recently revitalized technology that is drawing a lot of attention because it can help solve many sticky issues in the wireless network industry. This talk provides a brief overview of what SDR is and the issues it hopes to solve. I will then move onto our main focus, secure OTA download for SDR devices, mainly for radio re-configuration. The possible SDR architectures complicate a clean solution. At PINTL we have started work on some solutions and I will present some of our results from our work this summer, an approach that tries to work with standard technology and a new standard being proposed by OMA, a device manager, to manage and secure OTA download. I will then conclude, followed by a brief discussion of other interesting research areas in SDR.
