Abstract: Recent technologic developments in medical imaging permit the non-invasive visualization of structures not previously imagined. These technologic advances present challenges associated with the acquisition, archiving, transmission, and analysis of increasingly large multi-dimensional image databases. This paper will review recent developments in non-invasive skin imaging for the investigation and early detection of skin cancer. Challenges and opportunities related to the management and analysis of these images will be highlighted.
